Graduation-day

Day five at Space Camp and graduation day!

Good morning Space Camp! Best view ever!

Electrical - flash light

We started the day with a double split, where we could choose one of two activities. I chose Electrical with Tribo! We got to make our own flashlight from scratch and I loved it. I had not done this before and it made me want to learn more.

Educator Breakout box

Later it was time for Educator Breakout Box. Here we got 30 minutes to find and complete tasks that gave us codes to a suitcase. This I will definitely try on my students later on.

We found some pieces to the puzzle in the trash can. Later on we learned that we actually skipped some clues when we found this.

There were 3 locks and we figured out the first ones easy. The second two were more difficult. I suggested we use a hint card, that helped.

We found QR-codes all over the room and each was linked to a web-page to give us clues!

Yeyh!! We did it before we were out of time! And inside, there was a present for us, a Space Camp present! I say no more so I don`t spoil the surprise if you planning going to Space Camp, witch I really recommend!

Museum experience

We had some free time before graduation and an IMAX movie was in order! We saw "Dream Big" and it was about engineering and space! Here I am sitting with my friend Amy!

We (at least I ) had also set aside time AND MONEY for the gift shop!! This was the best shopping experience of my life!! Just look at this beautiful view!

Astronaut speaker

Then it was time for the Astronaut speaker, Dottie. The most exiting thing I learned about her was that she was a teacher. She always said to her students that they could be anything they wanted as long as they worked hard. She trained for 2 years to become an astronaut (2004-2006). In 2010, she was a mission specialist on the crew of STS-131 and logged more than 362 hours in space.I have always thought I was to old, but maybe I am not? Dotte was only 35 years when she was an astronaut on the International Space Station.

Here you can learn more about rocotics with Dottie and see how she worked on the International Space Station.

Graduation

Graduation Team Harmony and all the other teams. This was a special ceremony and I felt honored to be part of it. Here we are ready to turn our badge the right way and get our wings! We also got a diploma, an autographed picture of Dottie and the official team picture!

And here is my team Harmony in front of the lunar modual! Thank you all! I am so grateful for my new friends from all over the world! I will say it again; you are always welcome to my house in Norway! Hope to see you all again!

That`s all folks!! Or not....
Next blog will be about my family trip to Kennedy Space Center in Florida!
